Welcome to the November edition of your behind-the-scenes MLP team update.
From making new signings and giving interviews in national publications to winning big at an award ceremony, the team has been as busy as ever!

It’s official, we’re the Best Professional Services Firm in Surrey!
We’re incredibly excited to share that we won the award for the Best Professional Services Firm at the Surrey Business Awards!
We’re so proud of the team and everything we’ve achieved in the short time since Paul and Seán took over. It’s been a lot of hard work and seeing it recognised is amazing.
Even though MLP has been running for more than 42 years, it feels like we’re just getting started.
Paul and Seán were joined at the event by Leigh Loney from our admin team. Leigh was invited both to celebrate the outstanding work she’s contributed since joining MLP, and to represent the brilliant wider team whose hard work makes our firm what it is.
What a night and what a team!
The big unveiling of possibly our best investment yet…
It’s finally here, perhaps our best-ever investment and something that’s going to make both our client and team experience even better.
We’ve invested in a swanky new coffee machine, and it turns out two of our team are trained baristas!
The rest of us will have to learn from them to up our game. But don’t worry, we’re having barista training in a few weeks to ensure we offer the best coffees in town!
We get our beans from a brilliant local roaster that supplies some of the best spots in the country. So, now don’t just give first-rate advice; we serve first-rate coffee too.
This helps us build an even stronger office culture and improve our clients’ experience, all of which sets the tone for the kind of warm, friendly service we want to be known for.

We’ve got another new signing, all the way from Dubai!
Last month, we made another signing to the MLP team! Harrison Astles-Rollins, better known as Harry, stood out from a strong selection of candidates with his impressive knowledge and genuine passion for financial planning.
Harry even made the bold decision to leave his job in Dubai and return to the UK to take up this opportunity, which is another testament to his commitment to the role.
At MLP, we’re passionate about supporting the next generation of financial planners. Harry’s journey begins with us in the role of Administrator, which is a great place to learn the ropes of the profession.
Harry’s long-term goal is to become a Financial Planner, and we’re proud to be able to offer him the platform to make that happen. The rest is up to him, but we have no doubt he’ll rise to the challenge!
Seán hit the press
If you’ve been following our updates, you’ll know that MLP has been making regular appearances in some of the UK’s leading business publications, and October was no exception.
This time, Seán sat down with Citywire to discuss his and Paul’s decision to outsource portfolio management to trusted external specialists.
At MLP, our focus has always been on you, our clients. Our role is to take a holistic view of your finances and help you make decisions that align with your goals and values, all in the service of achieving financial peace of mind.
Managing investment funds, however, is a complex and time-intensive task. We believe our clients are best served when we dedicate our time to planning and advice, while working alongside with experts whose full-time focus is investment management.
In the interview, Seán explained how this shift reflects a growing trend across the industry, and as always, MLP is proud to be at the forefront of positive change.

Leigh did an amazing job on our Fireworks Night display
As you’ll know from our previous MLP updates, we love any excuse to brighten up our window display for the local community, and this Bonfire Night gave us the perfect opportunity.
Being an active and visible part of the community is one of our key goals. We want to bring a little colour to people’s day while also strengthening our reputation as the local go-to financial planners. A window seasonal display helps us do both, as it brightens people’s days while also sparking conversations.
A big thank you to Leigh Loney, our resident window dresser, who designed and created this amazing display single-handedly. Leigh’s creativity hasn’t gone unnoticed by colleagues or by the many passersby who’ve stopped to admire her work.
Join us for your Budget debrief
The upcoming Autumn Budget is causing understandable concern, especially with reports that the government needs to raise around £22 billion. Rumours are circulating about possible changes, including:
Adjustments to pension tax-free cash allowances
Reforms to Inheritance Tax
Increases to Income Tax.
So, it’s no surprise that many people are feeling uneasy. However, acting on speculation is rarely a good idea.
Once the details are confirmed, we’ll be here to provide clear guidance on what steps to take next. On 26 November, the day of the Budget, we’ll send a summary to our mailing list covering all the key points.
