We celebrated Sue’s 24th year at MLP

At MLP, our team is at the heart of everything we do. We spend a lot of time together, so it’s important that we not only work well as colleagues but that we also genuinely enjoy each other’s company.

That’s why we make it a point to recognise and appreciate the people who make MLP work. So, last month, we were proud to celebrate Sue – one of our longest-serving team members – as she marked an incredible 24 years with us!

Over the years, Sue’s contributed to specialist projects, stepped in wherever she’s needed, and brought a priceless sense of fun and joy into the office.

Thank you for all your hard work and dedication! Here’s to you, Sue!

We sponsored the Banstead May Fayre

One of our goals at MLP is to be an active part of our local community, to give back, and to have some fun while we do it! So, when the chance came to sponsor and take part in the Banstead May Fayre, it was a no-brainer for us.

We supported the Fayre by:

  • Financially sponsoring the event and donating a hamper to the raffle

  • Running a stall serving free Pimms and lollies

  • Selling raffle tickets with all proceeds going to the Banstead Veterans’ Hub

  • Decorating our window for the occasion

  • Creating an amazing balloon arch.

It was a brilliant day filled with team bonding, community connection, and plenty of fun.

Our team was incredible and gave up their Saturday to make it all happen. They took care of nearly everything so Seán and Paul could focus on chatting with locals and clients.

You know you're building something strong when things can run smoothly without the owners – a huge thanks to the team!

Oh, and what do you think of our MLP T-shirts?

We played darts at our quarterly team social

We recently had our quarterly team social and enjoyed an evening of drinks, darts, and plenty of laughs.

One of the best things about playing darts is that you don’t have to be a pro to win, and anyone can have a go! It was great to see everyone getting stuck in (some very competitively…) and having a brilliant time together.

We’re lucky to have such a fun, down-to-earth team, which makes these socials even more enjoyable. They’re a great way to strengthen our culture, get to know each other outside of work, and simply enjoy each other’s company. It’s also a small way to say thank you for all the hard work everyone puts in.

Big thanks to Sue for organising another fantastic evening!

Claire’s walk

Claire from the MLP team is a big fan of going for a walk during her lunch breaks.

So, with summer finally here, we thought we’d share one of her favourite local walks, perfect for a sunny stroll.

There are so many beautiful routes around Banstead, but Claire’s go-to starts on Holly Lane, cuts alongside a field, and winds uphill through the woods to Park Lane. From there, you could venture all the way through Banstead Woods, over to Walton Heath, or to the Downs for a proper adventure if you’ve got the time.

With an hour to spare, Claire tends to stick to the woods, tracks, the cricket pitch, and the allotments. She takes the time to chat, reflect, or just enjoy being offline for a bit. It’s all about fresh air, a bit of movement, and giving your brain and body a reset.

As Claire says: “Stay in the game and enjoy that break, that’s what lunch is for me.”

Paul went to the FA Cup final with his son

Last month, Crystal Palace made headlines with a historic win against Manchester City in the FA Cup Final. It was a triumph few could have predicted and a powerful reminder of what resilience, belief, and preparation can achieve.

Palace’s journey has been anything but smooth. The club faced bankruptcy in 2010 and went into administration. Their match-winner, Eberechi Eze, was rejected by several clubs and struggled to find anyone willing to take a chance on him before he broke through.

And yet, here they are, unlikely heroes who proved that success doesn’t always come from being the strongest or most celebrated. Sometimes, it comes from simply refusing to give up. Their story is a compelling example for anyone, in any profession, that you don’t need to be the best to win. What you need is self-belief, resilience, and consistent preparation.

Paul was lucky enough to attend the final with his son and even made it onto the TV coverage! Fellow MLP colleague James was also in the stands celebrating with the Palace fans.

Paul was particularly moved by manager Oliver Glasner’s post-match comments, where he spoke about how football offers fans a break from life’s challenges, and can be a moment of joy, no matter what’s happening at home.

As someone raising three young children on his own while running a business, Paul related deeply. “Support isn’t always there,” he said, “but we’ve created some of our most treasured memories during these years. When you’ve been at your lowest, you appreciate the good moments even more. It’s like your emotional range expands.”

A fitting reflection and a reminder that in life, as in football, setbacks can be the making of you.

We’re hiring

We're looking for a Financial Planning Administrator to join our team in Banstead, Surrey.

We’re open to candidates who want to stay in a pure admin role or progress through exams with a view to becoming a Paraplanner or even a Chartered Financial Planner.

So, if you're detail-oriented, proactive, and keen to grow in a values-led business, get in touch, or share this with someone who might be a great fit.

See you next time!

We hope you’ve enjoyed reading about what the MLP team has been up to. Look out for our next update coming soon.
