Behind the scenes at MLP: Sporting highlights, celebrations, industry awards, and more!

Welcome to the July edition of your behind-the-scenes MLP team update.

From sporting events and weddings to medical training and industry awards, the team has been as busy as ever!

Read on to catch up on all the latest updates.

We had our annual CPR and defib training

We recently completed our annual CPR and defibrillator training at MLP, which has become a vital part of our commitment to supporting both our team and the local community.

During the session, we learned that ambulance response times have increased from 8 to 11 minutes. You lose around 10% of brain function for every minute without oxygen, so after 10 minutes, the chances of survival are low.

With paramedics more stretched than ever, knowing how to respond in an emergency could save a life. That’s why it’s so important to us that our team is confident and capable of using the defibrillator located just outside our office, ready to help someone in the community if needed.

The training was both practical and a meaningful team experience. It brought us together, gave us valuable life skills, and strengthened our workplace culture in a way that helps the wider community.

A big thank you to Ciaran O’Sullivan for delivering such informative and empowering training. We now feel more prepared than ever to step in and help if someone nearby ever needs it.

Our advisers joined Quilter onstage

Our investment committee and advisers recently attended an investment event hosted by Quilter and even had the opportunity to join them onstage.

Quilter is now the largest model portfolio service (MPS) provider in the market and has also recently been recognised as one of the best pension providers.

While our research continues to highlight Quilter’s MPS as a standout provider, what truly matters to us is partnering with people we trust and whose mindset and values align with ours.

Events like this are an important part of our approach. They allow us to stay close to the markets, engage directly with investment managers, and ensure that every recommendation we make is backed by first-hand insights as well as in-depth research.

Wimbledon is back!

As a business local to Wimbledon, we wanted to celebrate the world’s greatest tennis tournament with a window display full of British charm and summer spirit.

Wimbledon season always brings a fantastic energy to the area, and we love feeling that buzz. Our display is our way of sharing the excitement and joy with the local community.

A huge thank you to Leigh Loney for bringing the vision to life so beautifully!

Aaron took part in a dodgeball competition

The MLP team is full of hidden talents, and last month, Aaron revealed his in style.

He travelled to Pisa, Italy, to compete in a dodgeball tournament and take on teams from across the country. After a series of tough matches, their team landed an impressive second-place finish.

To top it off, Aaron was voted the most valuable player in the tournament, which is a huge achievement and testament to his skill and teamwork.

Aaron said it was the perfect blend of competition, fun, and a little sightseeing along the way. A truly unforgettable experience!

We’re always proud to celebrate the diverse talents of our team. What other hidden skills do you think we’re hiding?

We learned how to play bowls with the local team we sponsor

This month, we spent a fantastic evening at Banstead Bowls Club, which we’re proud to sponsor, and were treated to a masterclass in teamwork, community spirit, and fun.

The club put on coaching sessions, a barbeque, and some friendly competition, and we loved every minute of it. One comment from an instructor really stood out:

“You said this was a team-building event, but you’re clearly already a very close-knit team!”

When you’re ambitious and focused on growth, it’s easy to concentrate on what’s next or what’s missing. But moments like this remind us to stop and appreciate how far we’ve come.

At MLP, we’ve worked hard to build a supportive culture where people take initiative, have fun, and genuinely want to show up each day.

We had such a great time, we’re now thinking of making bowls a regular team social!

MLP is top rated, again!

We’re proud to share that MLP has once again featured in the VouchedFor Top Rated Financial Adviser Guide, published in the Telegraph. This means our advisers have been Top Rated every year since the guide began over seven years ago.

As well as this, MLP ranked as one of the top 131 Chartered financial planning firms in the country.

Thanks to our clients’ generous feedback, we’ve received an impressive 4.9/5 rating across 697 reviews. We’re incredibly grateful, not only for the opportunity to support them on their financial journeys, but also for the time they’ve taken to share their experiences.

Thank you to all our clients for your trust, your feedback, and for letting us be part of your financial story.

Seán celebrated 10 years at MLP

Seán recently celebrated 10 years at MLP, and to mark the occasion, we celebrated with a:

  • Balloon

  • Card

  • Mont Blanc pen

  • Bottle of alcohol-free prosecco

  • Touching speech from his brother and co-director, Paul.

But as Seán shared, the most rewarding part of leading MLP has been watching the team grow into confident, capable versions of themselves, taking ownership, sharing ideas, and shaping the future of the business.

He’s excited for what the next 10 years will bring as we continue our journey towards £1 billion AUM, driven by our mission to spread financial peace of mind.

Here’s to progress, people, and the power of great ideas.

Paul went to a family wedding

Paul recently jetted off to the Algarve to celebrate the wedding of his cousin Hugo, and what a weekend it was!

The three-day celebration kicked off with a lively Welcome Drinks party on Friday, followed by the wedding itself on Saturday, and wrapped up with “The Recovery” on a stunning beach on Sunday.

With 21 cousins on that side of the family, there’s always another celebration on the horizon and a reason to come together.

Below is a great shot of Paul with his cousin Max and Max’s wife, Danielle.

See you next time!

We hope you’ve enjoyed reading about what the MLP team has been up to. Look out for our next update coming soon.
